'Sejahtera' : a way of a sustainable life

The word "Sejahtera" is often used by our society but the comprehension  of its deep meaning rarely be understood. For me, I understand 'Sejahtera' as a concept that encompasses a stable and harmonious life for the individual. However, this indigenous term has a deep meaning to be adapted which can bring to human's being prosperity, it also must be understood as a reservoir of good values that could enrich human life collectively. Allegedly, it can be traced to a Sanskrit word that resonates with the state of being human. Not necessarily limited to the “tangibles” but goes beyond the measures of material wealth, notably related to (mental) health and happiness as well as well-being and wellness in a more cohesive way.
'Sejahtera' in term of etymology carries the meaning of good which includes healthy, calm, peaceful and blissful. To keep an individual in good shape, balance is essential.

What Is the concept of 'Sejahtera'?

On this basis sejahtera can be understood on at least three different tiers: the spiritual, intellectual and cultural-societal aspects covering 10 essentials based on the acronym SPICES. They collectively stand for spiritual, physico-psychological, intellectual, cultural, cognitive, ethical, emotional, ecological, economic, and societal – all in a balance.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. The 17 SDGs are integrated—that is, they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability. Through the pledge to Leave No One Behind, countries have committed to fast-track progress for those furthest behind first. That is why the SDGs are designed to bring the world to several life-changing ‘zeros’, including zero poverty, hunger, AIDS and discrimination against women and girls. In order to fulfill these global goals, the countries involved, the international authorities and the global community,  need to work together, cooperating with each other, and have same desire to achieve these global desires towards 2030.
